Virginia Beach Br-166 Fleet Reserve Association

Line of Work:

Our objective is to protect the pay, benefits, and compensation of sea service members.

First Year of Operation: 1954

Address:

2408 Bowland Parkway, Virginia Beach, VA 23454, United States - General Assembly Meeting 1900 - 2000 3rd Monday Each Month

Additional Information:

Shipmate George Carlin, then a Chief Yeoman, Founded the Fleet Reserve Association in 1924. He conceived the concept of Enlisted personnel banding together for mutual Loyalty, Protection, and Service. He rightfully is the Founding Father of the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA).
Shipmate Carlin's concept became the Fleet Reserve Association's primary mission to protect the pay, benefits, and compensation of Sea Service enlisted personnel (active duty, reservist, veterans, and retired) members and their families through direct representation in the U.S. Congress.
The FRA also assists with individual career problems by maintaining a close liaison with Department of Defense and Veteran's Affairs and other government agencies. We support military policy that provides for an adequate national defense, guarantees the realness of our forces, and safeguards the personnel interests of the sea service community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO JOIN THE FRA?

Membership in the Fleet Reserve Association is open to all enlisted personnel (active duty, reservist, veterans, and retired) members of the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.
Commissioned Officers of the Sea Services, who have at least one day of prior enlisted service are eligible. Personnel of other branches of the United States Armed Forces who have prior honorable enlisted service in one of the Sea Services are also eligible for membership.
Members may join one of the FRA's 300 plus Branches worldwide or elect Membership-at-Large status. To join you must certify that you meet the eligibility requirements of being a current or former enlisted member of the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard, and that you can produce a copy of your military identification card or a DD-214 upon request.

  • On April 30,2015 at 07;00 a group of men and women will begin a run from Cape Henry Light house,Fort Story here in Virginia Beach. They will stop after each mile they have run to read the names of selected servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for this nations right to be free. I feel it is the least we as veterans can do to honor the brave men and women is show up and be present at on of the twenty mile poles they will pass from Fort Story to the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. It is there they will be forced to board a bus to travel to route 60 in Hampton where they will continue their journey to Arlington National Cemetery. It is my plans to be at mile post 10 and then proceed to mile post 20. I ask each of you to take time from a busy schedule to join us as we “Honor The Fallen”

  • I can truly say that is a very respectful way of those members of the military showing their respect, and thanks for those men and women who Gave All.
